Looking at some recent features to land on the Whiteboard application. In June, Microsoft updated the app with a new UI and also added several new shades, sticky notes support, reactions, note grids, and dozens of new templates. Other new features include new inking tools, intelligent ink, inking shortcuts, straight lines, and ink signals for the recently announced Surface Slim Pen 2. Microsoft also now allows Whiteboard users to insert, align and reposition shapes and images.
Unification
New features are also rolling out to Microsoft Whiteboard during next month. Both the iOS and Windows apps will get an update that Microsoft says will unify the app to make it a true cross-platform tool. However, the company oddly does not mention the Android version of Whiteboard. “The new Whiteboard provides a single unified user experience for all our customers across all devices, operating systems, and platforms. We’re rolling out an update to our native apps on Windows and iOS. This update will happen automatically and will provide you with all the new Whiteboard features from templates, shapes and reactions, to inking improvements, and more.” Microsoft will also add the ability to directly insert Office documents into Whiteboard, with annotation support. Lastly, the company says more updates will come over the remainder of the year. Whiteboard integrates with the inking capabilities of Microsoft Office to bring content to a screen that can be used by multiple users across devices. Functional locally or online, the service works with mouse, keyboard, pen, and touch. Documents sync automatically to the loud for use on any PC or smartphone at a later date and inviting another user is as easy as sharing a link.
